I warned you…

Filed under: Uncategorized — antheam @ 9:03 pm

That I would make more cards with the Eskimo Kisses range.  I made these four today, using the last of my vintage reindeer images, and the last of the Eskimo paper (well, I think so)…

I’ve combined the Basic Grey papers with various vintage items, such as lace, ribbon, old sheet music, and fabric brads to create a more vintage feel.  These little reindeers are so cute, and a bit different from other Christmas motifs.  I was sorting out my card stash tonight and I’ve made over 40 Christmas cards already-and it’s still early October!   Anyway, thanks for stopping by & enjoy the rest of your week,

Anthea :)

Even More Eskimo Kisses

Filed under: Uncategorized — antheam @ 9:54 am

When you’re onto a good thing… I love the Eskimo Kisses range, and I’ll be using up every last little bit of my paper pad, so I’ve got a couple more cards to show you today:

P1020729 (Small)

P1020734 (Small)

As well as the papers, I’ve cut felt circles that I then outlined with silver Kindyglitz, and I painted the chipboard snowflakes then covered them with Crystallina Kindyglitz (love this stuff!).   I’ve also used my Fiskars Upper crest border punch, a Papertrey Ink stamp, some vintage buttons & flowers, and pretty ribbons.

I’ve got still more Christmas cards planned, as well as some other bits and pieces.  So far I’ve made over 30 Christmas cards, so I will be looking to sell them… (this is something I’m working on, but I do find it a little scary-what if noone wants to buy my cards?…)

Anyway, here’s some other pieces of randomness from my weekend:

  • On Saturday I worked at the new Chandon Craft scrapbooking shop for the first time (it only opened on Thursday).  If you’re in the Geelong area, it’s well worth a look!  You catch a lift to the first floor and the brand new shop is right in front of you – lots more space for stock, a room filled with tables of clearance specials, and a new classroom.  There’s just no signage yet, but that will be up as soon as approval is given.  Raqual and the other ladies have done a great job; just stopping by will give you inspiration.
  • I went to the Point Lonsdale market yesterday-heaps of people, perfect weather, and lots of stalls.  Footy season is over and markets are back.  I had no idea how popular it is-it’s on once a month and there’s a different one on along the coast each Sunday.  I also picked up a few ideas…
  • I love watching Alfred Hitchcock movies, and last night my favourite one was on-Marnie.  It’s not as popular as some others, but I love it.  I think Hitchcock was a bit strange, but I love the suspense.

That’s all for my ramblings, thanks for stopping by and have a lovely week!

Just a quick post today…

Filed under: Uncategorized — antheam @ 4:05 pm

I haven’t got a lot to show you today, just a wedding card I was asked to make for this coming weekend.

P1020719 (Small)

Nothing too fussy for this one-I used papers from October Afternoon and Papertrey Ink, and the ribbon is from American Crafts.  I also used my Cuttlebug to emboss and cut out the little black frame, I painted the chipboard word black then covered with Kindyglitz, and I’ve also added some machine and hand stitching.  This card is a bit different, though, because it measures 8×8″!

I hope you’re having a good week, not too far to go now…:)

CPS #136

Another card sketch challenge-this time it’s from Card Positioning Systems.   I’ve also flipped this sketch and used some more vintage pictures for some Christmas cards:

This paper is Eskimo Kisses from Basic Grey, and I sewed the tree pictures to felt and decorated them with rhinestones.  I also used greetings cut from gift tags, gingham ribbon, metal buttons, and plenty of blue paint!  I’m dreading the coming of summer (especially since it’s predicted there will be more bushfires like last summer), but as I sit here it’s pouring rain outside, which I’m very grateful for.  Also, now that it’s daylight saving I have more hours to photograph my cards…there’s always a silver lining!  Are you sick of my Christmas cards yet?  I have some more planned, so that I have plenty to sell when I go to market very soon…

Thanks for looking at my cards,

Anthea

I’ve used various Cosmo Cricket papers for these-they go very well with the cute little Rudolph pictures.  I cut out old words and attached them to tags for the greetings, and attached red brads for his nose!  Thanks for stopping by,

I’ve made these with simple designs, because the papers need to be seen properly-love the little houses and santa claus!  I also used a few different Nestabilities dies for these cards; very useful when making multiples of any design.  I haven’t got much happening at the moment, so that’s all for now,

Martine’s sketch is great-so many possibilities.  For my two cards I’ve used the Eskimo Kisses papers and woolies, which are so cute.  I die-cut the tag for the greeting, and the label shape for the little critters.  I also die-cut the little snowflakes from glitter paper, and added lots of pink paint.  If you get a chance, stop by the Basic Grey Challenges blog and see what the other designers have come up with-lovely creations all of them.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the last little bit of the weekend!

In case you haven’t picked up on it yet,

Filed under: Uncategorized — antheam @ 3:45 pm

I love to go scavenging in the opportunity shops around my area.  Because I don’t work full time I get to drive around during the week and see what I can find, and it’s always something different!  There are certain things I always look out for, such as buttons, lace, etc. to use on my cards, as well as little vintage paper items.  I’ve been picking up some good stuff lately, so here’s a couple of pictures:

P1020698 (Small)P1020697 (Small)

I usually buy vintage children’s books for little pictures, but this one I just bought for inspiration-how amazing is it?  I also love to watch old movies from the 30s, 40s, & 50s, and I always like to see the opening credits, which were often done in lovely curly fonts.  That’s what this book reminds me of-the words are lovely, and so are the colours.  For $1.50, it’s worth the price just to look at.

P1020700 (Small)

This metal stand is great-my younger sister wanted me to give it to her to display her jewellery on (as if!), but I plan on having a market stall in the next couple of months, and this will look good displaying things (I’ll find something…!)  Oh, and the stand cost me $1.00.  I’ve figured out that I like being different, and op-shopping is great for this because I can always find unusual stuff that’s not expensive!  And, of course, you know the money goes to a good cause…It’s Friday afternoon…nearly the weekend…have a good one!

A couple more Cosmo Cricket Christmas cards to show you today. I’ve been using more of my little pictures and embellishments for a more ’shabby’ look:

The little birdie and church are so cute, and I cut the greetings from some more old gift tags.  I glued the ric rac down the sides, and buttons and stick pins are the final touches.  Have a lovely Friday everybody!

Vintage pretties…

Filed under: Uncategorized — antheam @ 6:28 pm

Even though Christmas in Australia is in the middle of summer, I still think of ‘traditional’ symbols of snow, snowflakes, and warmth from cold.  So I can live my own vintage, cold weather Christmas (at least through my craft!).  Today I was inspired to create some cards using some vintage things I’ve picked up along the way.  I’ve combined my finds with Cosmo Cricket Jolly by Golly paper, as Cosmo Cricket papers looks like it could be vintage anyway!

P1020690 (Small)

P1020691 (Small)

They’re rather red aren’t they?  I used my new Nestabilities label 8 dies to cut the shapes from old sheet music, and the little birdies and holly are vintage from old books.  The lace is vintage, as well as the metal buttons.  I bought some old gift tags a while ago, which I cut down to size to use for the greetings-thought this was a cool idea.  Getting the idea yet that I’ve been raiding my vintage stash? :)   Oh, and the florist frog/stand thingy I’ve photographed them on is the newest one in my growing collection, and it’s definitely old.  Thanks for looking at my cards!
