A beautiful vintage Christmas card with words by Helen Steiner Rice.

We had our carol service at church this morning and I have begun my Christmas baking.  It’s my nephew’s first Christmas too so that will be special.  I am looking forward to celebrating the birth of Jesus with my family and spending time with everyone.  Thankyou for taking time out to stop by and have a Merry Christmas,

Anthea.

A Tree Update

Don’t worry, you’re not seeing double, these are new photos of my Christmas tree.  I didn’t have enough decorations last week, so since then I have been to just about every op shop in Geelong to find more vintage decorations.  Happily I did find some, so I added them straight away.  Here’s some close-ups of some favourites:

Love the hot pink baubles and the angel and deer are so cute!  So I am much happier with my tree now, but I won’t stop looking for more decorations, you never know what you will find…

My White Christmas Tree

For a few years now I have been collecting vintage Christmas ornaments from op shops.  I also looked for a suitable tree just in case I found something for my decorations, but not really expecting to.  Therefore I was excited to find exactly the tree I was looking for at a local op shop this week!

Isn’t it pretty?  It’s white with bits of silver through it, and is only about 5 feet tall.  I didn’t want anything taller because I prefer smaller trees, and it looks new.

It’s my first white tree and I really like the retro look with all my vintage decorations.  I also really like that the tree and all the decorations, including the star on top, are second-hand.  I will keep looking for vintage decorations, though, because there is always room for more…

Flea Market Finds

Hello hello!  It’s Sunday so it’s time to post my latest thrifty finds.  First up, this scarf:

I love this scarf!  It’s huge (folded into quarters in this photo), I love the colours and patterns, it only cost $2, and I think it’s the first scarf I have found all year that meets my standards in order to be added to my collection :)

These plastic coat hangers were another cool find and are now hanging in my wardrobe:

When I was little I watched a show called ‘Sooty and Sweep’-it was the cutest!  Therefore I knew I had to have this book when I saw it this week:

If you have read my previous op shopping posts at all you must have picked up on the fact that I have a collection of Dick Bruna books.  Well, this week I hit the jackpot of Dick Bruna books, finding another six to add to my collection!

I couldn’t resist all the cute Miffy pictures :)   Thanks for dropping by and check out Her Library Adventures for more flea market finds,

Flea Market Finds

I haven’t had much success at the op shops lately, but this week I finally found some cool things worth sharing.  First, some vintage linen:

These were great finds-love the colours and patterns.  I also found another Dick Bruna book to add to my collection:

I have six of these little books now, as well as a bigger picture book.  The same day I found this little book I also found this Dick Bruna item that I couldn’t leave behind:

There is not a single word of english on the box (which is really cool :) ), so I think they are a type of memory game because there is two of each card design.  Who needs words anyway when the pictures are so cute?  My last find for this week is actually a little collection I’ve been working on for a while:

The colours of these plastic containers are fantastic, and they are in great condition as well.  I stack them all together and use them for storage too.

Flea Market Finds

Good evening!  It’s been a while since I’ve had any op-shop goodies to share, but this week I have a few.  I found a cool kid’s craft book yesterday that is very old and in great condition:

I also found another little Dick Bruna book to add to my collection:

My other cool find is another Pyrex bowl.  I have a few this style now, but this is a new design:

I don’t seem to find as much Pyrex and milk glass as I used to, so this bowl was a great find.  Lately I have been having more luck with clothes, jewellery and shoes, so I don’t have as much to show here, but I will pop in with finds when I have things worth showing :) .

Thanks for dropping by and check out Her Library Adventures for more flea market finds.

Washi Tape Storage

Hello hello!  Did you miss me?  I didn’t intentionally go this long without blogging, I guess I just didn’t have anything worth saying…  Tonight I’m enjoying the wintry weather and organising some craft supplies.  I love organising and purging, I do it all the time and it inspires me to create new things :)

I’m loving my washi tape at the moment (I know I’m not alone there), so I have a couple of washi photos for you.  Here’s a package I posted to an etsy customer yesterday:

I like wrapping my packages in graph paper and creating washi tape patterns on top.  I crocheted the green motif too.

My washi collection has grown so I’ve been looking on the net for storage ideas for all my tape.  I saw lots of cool things, but for me my storage needs to be compact, portable and provide easy access to my tapes.  I was happy to find the perfect thing at a Salvo’s the other day for $1!  My Dad adjusted it for me and here’s my washi collection now:

I think this stand used to be a toilet roll holder, but it is now the base of my ‘tower of tape’.  I love it!  The only thing is that it’s full already, and I might need another one for my future tape purchases…

Enjoy the rest of the weekend,

Anthea.

Flea Market Finds

Hello! Tonight I thought I would share a couple of things I found on my recent op-shopping trips. I found this bowl for half price:

It doesn’t have a brand, so I don’t know which company made it, but I really like the pattern and colour, and it’s in great condition.  Also, it only cost me $2.

Shoes are something I very rarely find on my thrifting trips, as it’s next to impossible to find a pair that are the right size, right colour, and in decent condition.  Having said that, I do have a few pairs now that are all the more special because of their rarity.  My latest shoe find is one of the best ever; a good-as-new pair of chocolate brown swedish clogs!

I grabbed them from the shelf, tried them on without even checking the size (because I was determined they would fit!) and they did!  I couldn’t believe it – especially considering they were only $3!  I love wearing brown, and I’m already planning what to wear them with for the new autumn/winter season.

That’s all I have to contribute to Flea Market Finds this week, but as I believe in quality over quantity I think my new clogs are definitely worth mentioning!  Pop over to check out more Flea Market Finds, and have a great week,

Anthea.

Flea Market Finds

Hello hello!  This week I found a few treasures on my op-shop travels, so be warned-plenty of photos coming up!  To begin with, these sheets:

I love the funky pattern and both colour combinations!  I bought all four because they were only $1 each.

Next, I found another little milk glass dish to add to my collection:

My nan gave me a little milk glass dish too, and it’s one I already have, but I love this design:

Not only did I find milk glass, but I found some pyrex as well!  I love this bowl:

I also found a sweet pie plate, my first one like this:

This is the back, which says it’s Agee, made in Australia:

Phew, so that’s all my finds for today, I told you there were plenty of photos!  It’s amazing how many cool things I found this week, considering that a couple of weeks ago I found nothing, but that’s the fun of it, I guess!

Anyway, thanks for stopping by to look at my stuff, pop in to Her Library Adventures for more thrifty finds.  Until next time, bye for now,

Anthea.
