A Mini Baby Book

Today I have a mini book I made using photos I took on Mother’s Day of my gorgeous nephew Max.  I wanted to make it simple in order to focus on the photos, so I picked out papers, journal cards and stickers in one of my favourite baby boy colour combos-denim blue, aqua and red.

It came together really quickly once I folded the pages and decided the order for the photos.  It’s a fast way to create a mini book that’s also easy to do.  I took photos of most of the pages:

I couldn’t resist adding some machine stitching, and another advantage to having flat pages is that the book was easy to close.  I set some eyelets to create a thread closure and it was done-made in an afternoon from start to finish :)

Isn’t my nephew the cutest? :) (not that I’m biased or anything…)  Thanks for stopping by,

Anthea.

I’ve had a busy week

this week. I spent time with my Nan and her sister, who are in their mid 80s, which was really good. I don’t see my Nan as much as I should, and she’s the loveliest lady; my mum was blessed in her mother-in-law.

I also spent time with my best friend and the gorgeous Felix, and went to his first birthday party this afternoon. I gave him a cool board book and a little chipboard album I made with photos of him meeting farm animals, and I made his card too (of course!) I wish I had my camera so I could have got some photos to scrap… Here’s his little train book:

I worked in the shop today, and it was one of the busiest days I’ve had so far. I also taught class at Chandon this week; it was these two layouts:

Sugar and Spice was last night, and the girls continued to work on their kaisercraft arrow albums. They’re doing a really good job too; I’m enjoying seeing what they come up with.

I’ve made these cards in the last couple of days:

My latest creation

My Mum is a twin, so I’ve made my aunt a paper bag gift book for her birthday.  I hope she likes it, I really enjoy making these.  It’s so much fun picking out the papers and matching embellishments.  I just love pretty embellishments, which is great for scrapbooking.  It’s funny how different scrapbookers focus on different elements.  For some, it’s the photos, for some it’s the journalling.  For me, it’s coordinating the papers and embellishments, making the colours go together.

Here’s some photos of the book, there’s more on my Flickr:

Lots of scrapping

This week I’m teaching at Chandon for the School Holiday program.  Funny thing is, though, that yesterday’s class was all adults, and today I had one child.  It’s still fun, though.  Yesterday we did a 12 x 12 layout, and today a double-page layout.  Tomorrow is the last class, and we’ll be covering wooden letters.  I’m looking forward to do something a bit different.  Classes are so popular that Chandon are currently working on the samples for April!

I’ve begun my teaching Emma scrapbooking on Monday nights at my house.  Working with just one other person is fun, too, because we get a lot done in a couple of hours.  Her album is coming along nicely.  The front cover is done now, and I think it looks lovely.

I’ve also just finished the book I’ve made for my Mum for her birthday next month.  I asked her what her favourite colours are, and I’ve used some of them for the book.  I’m happy with how it turned out.

Bits and Pieces

I make lists.  I’m someone who likes to be organised and this helps a lot, especially when all the little things I have to do add up.  That’s what it’s like at the moment.  I love internet shopping and I have an aunty who won’t do it so I buy her stuff for her, but with Christmas coming up I have to organise who owes who what.  I’m still waiting on a couple of packages for myself, and one thing I ordered turned out to be unavailable.  The joys of communication via email.

Anyway, I did receive my first copy of ‘Somerset Memories’ magazine from Amazon.com this week, and it’s fantastic.  I’ve bought all the Aussie scrapbooking magazines at one time or another, but they’re all so similar and my style is a bit different, so this is a great magazine.  It’s more arty and individual, so I’m rather impressed.  I’ve just emailed them some photos of my work, as I’m still on a quest to be published.  I don’t seem to have what they look for, but I won’t give up.  I’m determined to get published in something, somewhere.

I’ve made a couple of little paperbag giftbooks lately for Christmas presents, which was great fun.  They don’t have photos, so I’ve used lots of quotes and pictures.  It’s a fun way to use up a lot of stuff.  Here they are, and there’s more detailed photos on my Flickr:
