Happy Mother’s Day

Hello! It’s Mother’s Day this coming Sunday so tonight I’m sharing with you what I have made for my Mum.
Firstly, here is the card:

I used some gorgeous Crate Paper floral patterned paper that I have been hoarding for ages for the background of my card.  I didn’t want to cover the lovely paper so I typed Happy Mother’s Day on my typewriter, punched some Martha Stewart butterflies and added a gold glitter sticker.  Simple and pretty – the way I like my cards right now.

I also took a photo of the inside of the card, to show you what I have been doing when I write on the inside of my cards these days:

There are so many cool prints, chalkboard art and examples of typography around the internet that I was inspired to write my own.  I have always loved experimenting with fonts and handwriting styles, so I love doing this too.

Lastly, the all important present wrapping:

I wrapped Mum’s gift in gold tissue paper, tied pink twine around it and added some pom-poms on top.  Yes, I still love my pom-poms :)

So that’s what I will be giving Mum on Sunday; I hope she likes it!  Thanks for popping in and have a great weekend,

Anthea.

I added more than 10 new items to my etsy shop in this update; I think it’s the cooler weather inspiring me to be creative!  Whatever it is, I hope it continues!  All these items and more are in my shop now; thanks for browsing,

Anthea.

Neon pink & gold

Hi!  Today was my sister’s birthday so I made her this card.  The tag and die-cut are from dear lizzy and the sticker is from Crate Paper.  The embellishments are aqua and gold, which I’m really liking at the moment.

I used to make a lot of cards before I opened my etsy shop but I still enjoy making individual cards for special occasions.  My sister really liked it too.

Have a great weekend!

Another birthday card and gift wrapping

DSC_0001

This week is my nephew Max’s 1st birthday so here is his present all wrapped up.  I used brown paper and turquoise string, then added turquoise and aqua pom poms.

Of course I had to make a card too.  I cut patterned paper for balloons, typed the sentiment and added the cutest Richard Scarry bunny!

I know that Max won’t remember any of his birthday, but the rest of us will and I’ll take plenty of photos to show him when he’s older…

Have a great week!

Birthday card and gift wrapping

DSC_0030

This week is my Mum’s birthday so I was able to enjoy one of my favourite parts of gift giving - wrapping them up!  I used gold tissue paper, a doily, gold glitter ribbon and some of the pom poms I made recently.  I die-cut the gold glitter leaves and added sequins to the tag too.

I also made a card, using coordinating colours:

I’m liking this sequin trend-I found lots of vintage sequin packets at an op shop last week so I’ll be using them on everything…

I can’t wait to give Mum her present on Friday, hope she likes it!

New Christmas items in my Etsy Shop

Good evening!  Tonight I’m here to share with you the latest additions to my etsy shop.  I made all of these new items with Christmas in mind.  I can’t believe how close it is!

Love these cute reindeer!  I also made more cards from cute vintage pictures:

I use original pictures for all my items, so each is unique.  They are in my etsy shop now, thanks for stopping by!

Happy birthday Mum

This is the birthday card I made for my mum for this week.  I used one of my favourite embossing folders, machine stitching, and a vintage butterfly picture.

Simple cards like this really appeal to me now-it’s funny how creative tastes change over time.  These days I prefer to make more clean and simple cards and layouts, using fewer products.  That way the beautiful papers and embellishments really stand out in their own right-and the photos aren’t lost in all the ‘stuff.’  So thanks for popping in,

Anthea.

My creative space…

Good evening!  I haven’t been posting very regularly lately, so I thought that I would join in with our creative spaces for the first time and share some crafty things I’ve been making.

I love crocheting these little motifs!  They have so many uses and I know the pattern so well that I can make them really quickly.

More handmade wrapping paper.

Sympathy cards.  It’s been a while since I made some so I whipped up another batch.  I love the embossed tree!

So that’s some of what I’ve been creating lately.  I’ve also been busy making new things and wrapping up etsy orders from my shop.  I love the whole wrapping up and posting out process.

Check out more creative spaces here.

Tonight I am…

  • relaxing after teaching a scrapbooking class at Chandon Craft.
  • aware that this is my last day of being 28-I don’t know if I’m ready to turn 29 yet!  Birthdays always come so quickly, but I am very grateful for how far I’ve come-and how far I have to go…
  • making the most of the time I have to snuggle with my Choppy.  He is the most beautiful cat ever, as he follows me all over the house and always wants to climb all over me for cuddles.  He is old and has been having some health issues so I’m determined to spend as much time as possible with him.
  • coming to terms with the fact that spring has officially started.  I know I’m a square peg, but winter is my favourite season and I always feel a bit sad when the cold weather winds down.
  • showing a few new things that are now in my etsy shop-

There are blank card sets:

Punched butterflies in a handmade envelope in different designs:

Handmade vintage stickers:

These are just a few new things in my little shop- it’s good to have new stock on my shelves!  Thanks so much for popping in, have a great night!

Wedding cards & a winter bargain…

Good evening!  Following on from the engagement cards I made recently, this week I’ve been making wedding cards.  I wanted to use cream, white and gold for them, so I used different papers, including; music paper, manila folders, doilies and gold tissue paper.  The background paper is from Crate Paper and I added ribbon and sequins for sparkle.

And, of course, the words are typed on my trusty old typewriter :)   I made a few of these, and I’ll be making some more wedding cards soon.

I also wanted to share with you my latest bargain find.  In my part of the world we are well and truly into wintry weather, and I love wearing my ugg boots for warmth and comfort.  My previous pair had worn out after years of dedicated wear, so I was very happy to find out that the company which makes them is not only based in my town, but they have just opened an outlet store!  I bought a pair of uggs the same as my old ones for less than half what I paid before.  They are the best quality, and I love the chocolate brown colour.  So, if you happen to be in Geelong and you love a bargain like I do, pay the Emu shop a visit!  Here are mine-I’ve already started wearing them in…

That’s all for now, so thanks for stopping by my blog,

Anthea.
