Happy Mother’s Day

Hello! It’s Mother’s Day this coming Sunday so tonight I’m sharing with you what I have made for my Mum.
Firstly, here is the card:

I used some gorgeous Crate Paper floral patterned paper that I have been hoarding for ages for the background of my card.  I didn’t want to cover the lovely paper so I typed Happy Mother’s Day on my typewriter, punched some Martha Stewart butterflies and added a gold glitter sticker.  Simple and pretty – the way I like my cards right now.

I also took a photo of the inside of the card, to show you what I have been doing when I write on the inside of my cards these days:

There are so many cool prints, chalkboard art and examples of typography around the internet that I was inspired to write my own.  I have always loved experimenting with fonts and handwriting styles, so I love doing this too.

Lastly, the all important present wrapping:

I wrapped Mum’s gift in gold tissue paper, tied pink twine around it and added some pom-poms on top.  Yes, I still love my pom-poms :)

So that’s what I will be giving Mum on Sunday; I hope she likes it!  Thanks for popping in and have a great weekend,

Anthea.

I added more than 10 new items to my etsy shop in this update; I think it’s the cooler weather inspiring me to be creative!  Whatever it is, I hope it continues!  All these items and more are in my shop now; thanks for browsing,

Anthea.

Another birthday card and gift wrapping

DSC_0001

This week is my nephew Max’s 1st birthday so here is his present all wrapped up.  I used brown paper and turquoise string, then added turquoise and aqua pom poms.

Of course I had to make a card too.  I cut patterned paper for balloons, typed the sentiment and added the cutest Richard Scarry bunny!

I know that Max won’t remember any of his birthday, but the rest of us will and I’ll take plenty of photos to show him when he’s older…

Have a great week!

Birthday card and gift wrapping

DSC_0030

This week is my Mum’s birthday so I was able to enjoy one of my favourite parts of gift giving - wrapping them up!  I used gold tissue paper, a doily, gold glitter ribbon and some of the pom poms I made recently.  I die-cut the gold glitter leaves and added sequins to the tag too.

I also made a card, using coordinating colours:

I’m liking this sequin trend-I found lots of vintage sequin packets at an op shop last week so I’ll be using them on everything…

I can’t wait to give Mum her present on Friday, hope she likes it!

Pom poms & Christmas gift wrapping

This week I have been making pom poms from left-over wool found at op-shops.  I remember making them when I was little and I used the same method; cutting out two cardboard circles and wrapping the wool around them.  Aren’t they pretty?

I decided to use some for my Christmas wrapping this year.  I wrapped my presents with kraft paper then tied the pom poms on top.

An easy and effective gift wrapping idea-I think I will use it again :)

Etsy packaging

I thought I would pop in and show you my Christmas packaging for orders from my etsy shop.  As always, I enjoy wrapping orders almost as much as making what’s inside them!

Graph paper, washi tape, sparkly thread and crochet motifs – what’s not to like?  I have also started my own Christmas shopping, so now I have to decide how I will wrap them too.  My mum can’t understand why I enjoy gift wrapping, so I know I didn’t get it from her :)

New Christmas items in my Etsy Shop

Good evening!  Tonight I’m here to share with you the latest additions to my etsy shop.  I made all of these new items with Christmas in mind.  I can’t believe how close it is!

Love these cute reindeer!  I also made more cards from cute vintage pictures:

I use original pictures for all my items, so each is unique.  They are in my etsy shop now, thanks for stopping by!

New retro dress pattern tags in my etsy shop

Good evening!  Tonight I’m here to share with you some of my latest additions to my etsy shop.  I’ve made more sets of  kraft tags decorated with retro dress patterns.

They could be used as gift tags or even just as pretty decorations.  They are all one of a kind, and in my shop now.

Handmade Fabric Brads

So remember in this post I said I bought some button covering kits that I planned to make into brads?…of course you do… I have started making them and here’s what I have completed so far:

I have used all different sizes of buttons and all different kinds fabrics, including vintage prints and cross stitched embroidery.    Some of the fabrics were too thin so I used two layers, and the most difficult part is making sure the design is centred properly on the front of the button.  Overall, though, I really enjoy making these and I can’t wait to use them on some layouts!

I wish I had bought…

The Making Memories Desktop Carousel.  It’s on my wish list because they are discontinued and I haven’t been able to find one anywhere!

I’m normally really good with snapping up scrapbooking stuff when I see it because I know that the product turn-over is so fast that you miss out, but I came to want one of these too late.  The funny thing, though, is that I have seen these on lots of blogs and they appear to be popular with scrapbookers.  It would be great if they were replaced with something very similar…

Have you ever come to want a particular scrapbooking item only to find it’s too late?

I guess it’s bound to happen sometime,

Anthea.
