Card Patterns Sketch 30

Filed under: Uncategorized — antheam @ 4:33 pm

Good afternoon all!  First of all, I’m sorry I have been missing over the last week, but I’ve been doing some design work that I can’t share yet, so I haven’t been able to blog as much…  It feels weird when I don’t have something to post every couple of days, but it’s been great to get this design work, too.  There’s also a bit of the dreaded flu going around my house at the moment, but I’ve managed to get by with a cold, so for that I’m grateful :)

As always, there’s some lovely new papercrafty things I can’t wait to use, including the October Afternoon papers I bought today that have just come in at Chandon Craft, and I’ve also found some great vintage pictures on my latest op shop excursions.  I’ve combined one here with Basic Grey Lemonade papers for the latest Card Patterns Sketch:

I just love the Lemonade papers, and they worked really well with my little house picture.  The words are also from a vintage book, and the polka dot paper and cardstock are from Papertrey.  The ladybug is a chipboard sticker from Basic Grey, and I’ve decorated it with good old kindyglitz.  That’s all from me for now, so thanks for stopping by!

Kaisercraft card competition

Filed under: Uncategorized — antheam @ 4:37 pm

Last week there was a card competition on the Kaisercraft blog, and you had to use this sketch:

I wanted to do something different with my card, and I’ve seen a few pinwheels on cards lately. so I made one here with the double sided paper.  I used the Pina Colada range, which I love because it’s bright and funky, and combined it with black.  I didn’t win the competition, but my card is shown on the blog, along with a few others.  You can check it out along with the winning card by going here.  Enjoy the rest of your day!

Basic Grey Challenge 2

Filed under: Uncategorized — antheam @ 4:46 pm

It’s time for another Basic Grey Challenge!  Thankyou for everyone who participated in our first one; you must have really missed us :) .  The challenge for this fortnight is to use these three colours:

BG+Colour+Combo

P1020443 (Small)

I made a baby girl card for this challenge, and I’ve used things from lots of different ranges!  The rub ons are from the Sugared range, and the papers are from Urban Prairie, Bittersweet, and Porcelain.  I’ve added some lace, ribbon, flowers, pearls & buttons for a bit more girlyness, and I’m loving my Fiskars border punch right now.  Now I bet you’re thinking about just what Basic Grey goodies you’ve got that will fit this theme… Don’t forget you have two weeks to enter the challenge, so why not have a go?

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Lots of sympathy

Filed under: Uncategorized — antheam @ 3:33 pm

cards to show you today.  I bought some of the beautiful Webster’s Pages paper earlier this week, and decided to make a big batch of sympathy cards in one go.  I ended up with 10!  Here they are:

P1020473 (Small)

P1020474 (Small)

P1020475 (Small)

P1020476 (Small)

P1020477 (Small)

P1020478 (Small)

P1020479 (Small)

P1020482 (Small)

P1020480 (Small)

P1020483 (Small)

These papers are so lovely as they are, so I’ve just machine stitched them to the cardstock, added rub ons for the greetings, and decorated them with flowers, pearls and buttons.  I like this idea of making lots at once; I feel like I’ve accomplished more that way!  Have a great weekend,

CPS #129

Filed under: Uncategorized — antheam @ 12:51 pm

I just finished my card for the latest challenge at the Card Positioning Systems blog. Here’s the sketch and my card:

I’ve used K & Co paper for this one, with some vintage lace, flower picture, and the button is vintage too.  I swiped paint along the edges and zig zagged around the edges.  The centre of the flower is a cool Jenni Bowlin pearl decoration.  Thanks for looking at my card,

Card Patterns Sketch 28

Filed under: Uncategorized — antheam @ 8:28 pm

The latest sketch is up at the Card Patterns blog, and I’ve made my card.  Here’s the sketch and what I’ve done with it:

I’ve been wanting to use this Basic Grey chipboard sticker from the Lemonade range, and this sketch was perfect.  I’ve also used a Cuttlebug embossing folder and my new Martha Stewart butterfly punch.  The tag is stamped with a Cavallini butterfly stamp, then a Papertrey Ink sentiment on top.  I tied the tag with a metal button and hemp twine.  Another girly card, which I love :) .  Thanks for stopping by,

Turquoise, coral & yellow

Filed under: Uncategorized — antheam @ 5:52 pm

might sound like a dubious colour combo, but I love these bright colours together.  I’ve used them here for this card:

P1020439 (Small)

I’ve used lots of little bits and pieces together here, including; a vintage birdie picture with embroidered legs, Heidi Swapp felt flowers and butterfly, Papertrey Ink cardstock, paper, and stamp, Nestabilities die & Cuttlebug embossing folder for yellow borders.  There’s a few other bits and pieces, but I’ve put the whole supply list on my Flickr (as always), so I won’t duplicate it here.

The good news about today is I worked at Chandon, my local scrapbooking shop, where I sometimes do a few hours, and where I also teach some classes.  I enjoy being able to work in a place that promotes two of my most loved pasttimes – papercraft and shopping!  What more could a girl want?  Have a look at our website- there’s online shopping as well as a blog with heaps of ideas and info about upcoming classes.

The bad news about today is that the weather is heating up-spring will be here before you know it and then dreaded summer…  At least it’s not hot yet, enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Odds & ends…

Filed under: Uncategorized — antheam @ 9:44 am

One thing that gives me a sense of satisfaction when making my cards is finally finding a way to use something that I’ve been holding on to for ages, knowing that it will look great, but not sure what to do with it.  That’s what I’ve been able to do with these two cards- they both have vintage floral papers that I loved but wasn’t sure how to use them.

P1020426 (Small)

P1020430 (Small)

For me it’s all about getting the colours right- from there the card makes itself.  I love the colour combos on both of these cards- fresh and inviting.

Have a great day!

Lovely new papers

Filed under: Uncategorized — antheam @ 9:36 am

I bought the Heather Bailey Freshcut range of papers, chipboard and rub ons a few weeks ago.  My routine seems to be that I know what I want as soon as I see it so I buy it (in order not to miss out!), but then it will sit in my stash for a little bit before I ‘take the plunge’ and begin to use it.  Therefore, it was time to create with these gorgeous papers.  Here’s what I’ve come up with so far:

P1020410 (Small)

1224416 (Small)

I love the designs of these papers- so bright and inviting.  I’ll be using these for quite some time yet!

My week has been pretty quiet so far- as anyone who knows me will tell you- I love nothing more than spending time bargain shopping at the op shops in my area- especially for things I can use on my cards.  Anyway, I was very excited yesterday because I found an op shop I had never been to before, and I got some great little things, including; velvet ribbon and vintage buttons.  Such little things, but I love how I can find not only things that are cheap ( :) ), but also things that are different.  I love the little things that make me smile :) .  I hope something little makes you smile today, and thanks for stopping by,

Just another

Filed under: Uncategorized — antheam @ 2:05 pm

card for a child to show you today.  I’ve used the new Sassafras papers for this one- they matched this vintage applique I found at an op shop a couple of weeks ago perfectly:

I’ve also added vintage buttons and words, machine stitching, and some ribbon.  I love making these funky cards for kids-the brighter the better!  Thanks for looking at my blog,

Anthea
