Using up the scraps

Filed under: Handmade Cards — antheam @ 5:10 pm

I love love love this range from American Crafts. I’ve already made a layout using most of it, so I’ve made these two cards with the leftovers. I think the chipboard shapes are gorgeous. I sanded the edges to distress them a bit, and I used inking and machine stitching on the cards.

A few more little pretties

Filed under: Handmade Cards — antheam @ 11:39 am

I’ve made in the last couple of days.

This first card is Prima papers, a Delish frame I painted and covered in kindyglitz, and a Cavallini stamped bird(first time I’ve used my new stamps!). I’ve also added ribbons, jewels, inking, and stitching.

For the next duo of cards I went for pale pink and lemon, because of the Basic Grey paper. I’ve used a lot of different embellishments, but I especially like the Making Memories buttons on the Heidi Swapp butterflies. Very girly.

I love your blog

Filed under: Uncategorized — antheam @ 5:38 pm

Ooooh, thanks Ros for awarding me this and linking me to your blog! It’s funny how I never think of people actually looking at my blog, but this reminds me.

The rules for the award are – (1) The winner can put the logo on their blog. (2) Link the person you received your award from. (3) Nominate at least 7 other blogs. (4) Put links of those on yours. (5) Leave a message on the blogs of the girls or boys you’ve nominated.

Anyway, here’s 7 scrapping blogs that I’m currently visiting regularly:

Janet Hopkins:  Lovely work, a lot of stuff using Heidi Swapp products.

Heidi Swapp: I know this isn’t very original, but I love love love her stuff.

Making Memories: This has great examples using their products, and updates on what new stuff is coming!

Aussie Pub Calls: Info on what competitions, design team calls, etc. are taking place in our region.

American Crafts: I love the designs of American Crafts papers, as well as their ribbons, as well as their Thickers…the list goes on and on!

Melissa Phillips: This lady makes some of the best cards I’ve ever seen. Very inspiring.

Keisha Campbell: One of the designers for Making Memories. She does beautifully simple and stylish work.

Ok, I hope this fulfils the requirements! Thanks again Ros.

It might seem a little early,

but I did see Christmas stuff at Spotlight already a couple of days ago. I bought raw chipboard frames and I thought they looked a bit like Christmas baubles, so I made these two cards:

Goodbye my beautiful Monty

Filed under: Uncategorized — antheam @ 8:26 am

Very sad in our house at the moment. Last night we went to the vet and had Monty put to sleep. He had been getting worse at a rapid rate, and he just wasn’t his usual active, happy little self anymore. We know it was the right thing to do, but it doesn’t mean we don’t still miss him. He was a special member of the family and it will take some getting used to the fact he’s not coming back. I hope he knew how much we loved him. I miss you already, Manny.

Here’s a few I prepared earlier…

Well, last night, actually. I’m loving all this machine stitching. I’ve also done a lot of inking on these ones.

Take another look…

at all your supplies and you just might find another way to use something you’ve had for ages. That’s what I did with these cards. I made these little decorative cards with vintage wallpaper, quotes from poetry books, etc. quite a while ago, but I didn’t know what to do with them. I saw them again the other night, and got the idea to trim them down and incorporate them into card designs. The thing is to make them look part of the overall thing, not just stuck on.

This one is Prima papers, with machine stitching, distress ink, buttons, ribbons and pearls.

This one is Making Memories ribbon and paper, Basic Grey paper, flowers, stitching, and inking. I’ve got a few more of these cards planned too.

Still more cards,

but these are a little different. I made them using acetate sheets, and I even embossed some of the acetate using my Cuttlebug. I’ve used fluoro pink kindyglitz to go around the edges, and each card is a different combination of cherryarte houndstooth paper, black paper, and hand stitching with pink embroidery thread. I’ve also used Heidi Swapp journalling spots, clear extras, damask stamp, felt flowers, and rhinestones and kindyglitz. I actually made these as a matching set in an effort to be published in a magazine, but I was knocked back :( I will, however, persevere…

I’ve had a busy week

Filed under: Classes, Handmade Cards, Mini albums / Gift books — antheam @ 4:59 pm

this week. I spent time with my Nan and her sister, who are in their mid 80s, which was really good. I don’t see my Nan as much as I should, and she’s the loveliest lady; my mum was blessed in her mother-in-law.

I also spent time with my best friend and the gorgeous Felix, and went to his first birthday party this afternoon. I gave him a cool board book and a little chipboard album I made with photos of him meeting farm animals, and I made his card too (of course!) I wish I had my camera so I could have got some photos to scrap… Here’s his little train book:

I worked in the shop today, and it was one of the busiest days I’ve had so far. I also taught class at Chandon this week; it was these two layouts:

Sugar and Spice was last night, and the girls continued to work on their kaisercraft arrow albums. They’re doing a really good job too; I’m enjoying seeing what they come up with.

I’ve made these cards in the last couple of days:
