So the card making

Filed under: Classes, Handmade Cards — antheam @ 1:07 pm

continues. Here’s one I made last night:

I actually made two the same, I like the little birdies.

Yesterday I taught the day class at Chandon, and this is the layout we made:

Debbie designed this sample, using the Kaisercraft ‘Bohemian’ range. It was a bit different, because burgundy and yellow were the main colours, and it worked really well with heritage style photos. One lady even used an old sepia photo of her dad, and it looked great, even with the flower decorations.

It starts with a couple

of ideas, and before you know it, you’ve got a whole pile of cards! I’ve got that thing again where I make lots of cards. I’ve made 9 in about a day. Here’s my latest:

I had some supplies

that I knew I would never scrapbook with, so I did the next best thing; I made some cards. My aunty has been selling them at work, and she said people buy them because they need a card straightaway and it saves them going out to the newsagents, etc. Apparently people have been buying them for babies and sympathy cards, so these are in softer pastel colours:

For these cards I used Making Memories Animal Crackers and Basic Grey papers, with Making Memories frames, trims, and lots of inking. I love the little lion and elephant pictures, they’re so cute.

I’ve been trying

Filed under: Uncategorized — antheam @ 3:27 pm

for a while now to have some of my scrapbooking published. So far, no luck. But I did have one cool thing happen; I submitted some of my layouts to the Bam Pop website for their online gallery, and they have put them in this weekend! It’s not the same as being published, but now everyone who looks up Bam Pop can see my stuff.  Here’s the link : http://www.bampop.com/view/popart. Have a look at their stuff, so bright and unusual, I think it’s great.

I would say that the most popular

scrapbooking size is 12×12″, and then there are the less common sizes of 8.5″x11″ and 8×8″, etc. I’ve always scrapped 12×12 (and still do), apart from the mini albums and off the page things I’ve done for gifts and special occasions. I like how much you can fit onto the 12×12 size! Lately, though, I’ve started noticing more and more of the 6×12″ layouts. I don’t know why, but they intrigue me, and I think I’ll attempt something in this size soon. I use mostly 6×4 photos anyway, so they will still fit easily. Of course then I was wondering about albums, so I started internet researching, and there’s hardly any around! I don’t know if this is because it hasn’t caught on yet, or the scrapbooking companies think they won’t be around for long, so they haven’t bothered to make them. I did find some lovely corduroy ones by American Crafts, though, so I might get one of those and see how I go. I think that 12×12 layouts will always be my favourite, though!

I taught a class this week at Chandon, the same one I taught the day class the week before. It was a black and white with lime Kaisercraft layout. It worked really well, and everyone had lovely photos. I also worked in the shop today. It was fairly quiet, because Melissa was running the Crop for a Cause day, so I think everyone was there. I hope they had a good time. Perfect combination; scrapbooking and giving money to charity. Because there was less customers, I was able to help them more, which I really enjoy. I love showing customers things they’ve never thought of, or explaining how easy something is to use so they’re not too intimidated to try something they didn’t think they could do.

Here’s another of my layouts, I made last night when I was doing my typical ’stay up till all hours’ routine:

I like how this one turned out. I’ve used the American Crafts Amplified papers, and they have metallic parts to their designs (which you can’t see in the photo). I’ve done some inking and folding to the edges, and I like the paperclip on the bottom corner. I’ve also done a lot of stitching. How much do I love using American Crafts Thickers? (You can tell by how many layouts I’ve been using them on my layouts lately…)

So this is my new Scrapbooking tote

Filed under: Layouts — antheam @ 3:20 pm

in action. I’ve used it every day since I got it last week, including for Sugar and Spice, and it’s fantastic! I don’t want to sound like an ad or anything, but it’s perfect for my limited space and need to be portable.  I’ve put the ’shelf’ in the top, with all my embellishments on that, with big things like my Cuttlebug underneath. All my ribbons are in one side, with paints and inks in the front. Fabulous!

Here’s my latest layout, it’s another of my Einstein factor photos:

I used a hot pink/bright blue/orange colour combination for this one. I wanted to use the Hambly brick overlay, and I really like it. I’ve also used Bam Pop paper and diecut, and lots of little felt and sticker embellishments. There’s detail shown below:

It’s pretty simple, but I think that’s often better, and the colours stand out more. I’ve also made a few more cards to sell, but I didn’t get to take photos before I put them in plastic, unfortunately. I’ve still got a couple of these Einstein Factor photos to scrap, so I wonder what colours to do next…

My new scrapbooking tote on wheels

Filed under: Layouts — antheam @ 2:11 pm

arrived yesterday! It was very exciting, putting all my stuff in.  It fit everything I wanted, so now I can use it for Sugar and Spice group tonight. It’s just like a piece of luggage.

Here’s my latest layout:

I love the bright yellow and magenta combination. I’ve used Love Elsie papers, Hambly overlay, bam pop diecut, and lots of little bits and pieces I collect from everywhere. Very bright and fun.

Winter weather is here!

Filed under: Classes — antheam @ 6:22 pm

and I love it. Remember that layout I did about waiting for the cold weather? The waiting is over and I love it. It takes a lot for me to get cold, but I love rugging up when I do. Perfect time to stay inside and do more scrapping (ok, I know I would be doing that anyway :) ).

This morning I taught class at Chandon, and it was our biggest day class yet. There were nine students, including a couple of brand new scrappers! It was a really lovely class, and speaking for myself, I think everyone enjoyed it. This is the sample of the layout:

Dsc_1020_desktop_resolution

Everyone did as much as they could, and the photos looked fantastic. I love seeing what everyone comes up with. The Thursday night class will do this layout in a couple of weeks, so it should go well.

I’m doing a few layouts of my own at the moment, scrapping my photos from the Einstein Factor (long story…), so I’ll post when I’m finished. I’m also organising Sugar and Spice group for this Friday night. The girls will be making the arrow albums from Kaisercraft outlet. There’s quite a lot of stuff to organise, but it will be worth it. I love seeing what everyone comes up with. I’m still waiting for my scrapping tote from the US, so I really hope it’s here by Friday, then I can wheel my stuff around easier. Ahh, the trials of a portable scrapping enthusiast! I’m always thinking of ways to streamline and transport stuff more easily. Yesterday I received nailpolishes from the US, so hopefully the trolley won’t be far behind…

I’m impressed

Filed under: Layouts — antheam @ 12:54 pm

with how Kaisercraft’s papers have improved in both quality and design. The new ‘Blushed’ range came into work this week, so I scrapped this double page layout with photos from Raqual:

I didn’t need to add much to the papers, so I just put some ribbons to ‘frame’ the photo and unite the two pages, a petaloo flower, some black rubons (the white vine design is on the paper), and I made the title and journaling tags. I edged with some Making Memories pink paint, and used these cool sticko buttons that came already threaded with adhesive on the back. Rhinestones and pearls were the finishing touch.  All in all, rather pleased with how this turned out, and the photos were perfect with the papers!

I made this layout

Filed under: Layouts — antheam @ 4:45 pm

last night. Mum told me the title is corny, but I don’t care. I love the little deers, and I was able to add a picture from a picture book I bought from an op shop. To me it has an almost vintage feel, but in a cool way. I love the orange and aqua tones. It’s of one of my cats, surprise surprise…
